About the Lachlan Valley

The Lachlan Valley has an area of 90,000 square kilometres, extending from the Great Dividing Range to the Great Cumbung Swamp on the Riverine Plains.

Famous for its extensive railway system, it is a great place to visit if on the way to Cowra or other close towns.

History and Heritage

The Lachlan Valley National Park was established on 1 July 2010, by incorporating the former Kalyarr National Park with the Booligal, McFarlands, Moon Moon and Oxley state forests.

Places to stay

Accommodation options within the actual National Park are limited, there are a few campsites but not much else. However, there are many hotels, motels, and caravan parks just a close drive away from the Park.

Things to do

Things to see and do whilst in and around Lachlan Valley include hiking in the National Park, camping as well as museums and gaol tours in nearby towns.
